Try this first
- Buy from sellers with explicit business warranty (12 months minimum) and a clear Activation Lock policy.
- On receipt: in setup, do you see 'Hi' or an Activation Lock prompt? The latter means return.
- Apple Business Manager link: the refurbisher cannot always put them in your ABM, ask upfront, otherwise no automated enrollment.
- Battery state in Settings > Battery > Battery Health, do not accept under 85 percent capacity.
