- 2D imager: also QR, GS1-Datamatrix, screen barcodes from phones
- Loyalty app or gift card on phone? 2D imager is required
- Pharma or food batches: 2D imager for GS1-Datamatrix
- Price gap is small, pick 2D for future-proofing
