Phone lost and MFA app gone

Without a backup method, the helpdesk is the only path. Self-service password reset with MFA bypass only works if IT enabled it.

Try this first

  1. Try a possible second MFA method like SMS or hardware key
  2. Otherwise call IT helpdesk from a known number for identity check
  3. After reset, immediately set up at least two MFA methods
  4. Print or store the recovery code somewhere safe
