Try this first
- Run at least Multi-AZ in production: 2 or 3 AZs within one region
- Database: Multi-AZ standby or Aurora with multi-AZ writers
- Backup to a different region, not just a different AZ
- Plan and rehearse DR, a runbook that doesn't live in someone's head
